The Scientific Advisory Council of the Tampa Bay Research Institute, Inc. conducted an annual review of its research and research facilities this past week. The laboratories are located at 10900 Roosevelt Blvd., St. Petersburg, Fl.
The Scientific Advisory Council of TBRI consists of Dr. Bernard Roizman, Univ. of Chicago; Dr. Richard J. Whitley, Univ. of Alabama at Birmingham and Dr. G. Yancey Gillespie, Univ. of Alabama at Birmingham. They recently released a report praising the research being done at TBRI.
In their report, they discussed the initiation of a pilot study to assess the potential of PPC, a TBRI patented extract from pinecones, to significantly reduce IgE (an allergy related antibody) levels in patients with perennial allergies. They also praised the research which led to the finding that pinecone extract (PPC) is a potent antioxidant in both cells and living animals.
The report also describes the importance of the current research, which is focused on investigating ways to enhance the potency of cancer vaccines. Research is underway using the pinecone extract (PPC) to enhance cancer vaccine therapy. This line of research is examining ways of utilizing PPC to help alleviate cancer associated immune suppression.
